WAITLIST FAQ |
Your income is verified when the RHA contacts you to come in for an interview to begin the qualification process for your account which could be within 2 months – 3 years.
When the current waiting list is exhausted, the RHA will open the waiting list.
A random computer-generated lottery was used to select 500 applicants for the waiting list. You may re-apply when the waiting list opens again.
If you need your assistance check PIN, please come into the office with your identification card.
Once you receive your PIN please see the FAQ “How do I create an Assistance Check Account?”
There are no numbers given for the 2020 Waiting List. The RHA will contact you via www.assistancecheck.com and/or mail once the RHA has begun to interview for the qualification process for your account within 2 months to 2yrs.
The RHA will contact you via www.AssistanceCheck.com and/or mail once the RHA has begun to interview for the qualification process within 2 months to 3 years. After your file has been approved by the eligibility department you will be contacted via www.AssistanceCheck.com and/or mail to come in for the voucher briefing at which you will receive a voucher. Keep your contact information up to date through www.AssistanceCheck.com.
1. Open up an internet browser and type the following in the address line: www.WaitlistCheck.com
2. If you do not remember your password, click on Forgot Password and follow the prompts on the website. You will need to answer the security questions you created during the application process.
You can request your new password be sent via email, text message or phone.
If you do not remember your password for your email account you will need to click forgot password on the log in page for your email account. Follow the prompts on the website to recover or reset your password.
If Inactive, you were not selected for the Waiting List. You may re-apply next time the waiting list opens.
If Active, you were selected for the Waiting List and may now create an account on:
www.AssistanceCheck.com using the Assistance Check PIN on your Application Receipt.
1. The applicant logs into www.assistancecheck.com and clicks on the “click to create an applicant account”.
2. The applicant then enters in their last name, ssn, date of birth and the PIN number
3. The applicant then sets up three security questions and responses (Please write these down in case you forget your password in the future)
4. The applicant then reviews their setup information prior to submitting the request to activate the account including their email address.
5. An email is sent from www.AssistanceCheck.com to the recipient email address and the applicant opens the email received and clicks on the link to complete the process to activate the account. Once activated the applicant may log into www.AssistanceCheck.com
- Open up an internet browser and type the following in the address line: www.WaitlistCheck.com
- Type in the user name and password you created during the application process. The user ID will be printed on your application receipt, it will be the same email address you entered during your application process.
- Once you have logged in, you will be able to view your status on the waiting list:
If Inactive, you were not selected for the Waiting List. You may re-apply when the Waiting List opens again.
If Active, you were selected for the Waiting List. You will now need to set up an Assistance Check account. Please see the FAQ “How do I create an Assistance Check account?”.

You may dial 211 from your phone, the United Way directory for other assistance.
- In order request a reasonable accommodation, you or anyone in your family must be a person with disabilities and require a specific accommodation in order to fully utilize our programs and services.
- A reasonable accommodation is an adjustment made to a rule, policy, practice, or service that allows a person with a disability to have equal access to the HCV program. Ex: Making home visits, extending the voucher term, approving an exception payment standard for an accessible dwelling unit.
- If 1 and 2 above apply to your family, make a request in writing by filling out the Request for Reasonable Accommodation Form. NOTE: Include the Fax number to the medical profession that the housing authority should contact.
- Read, print out, sign and return the Reasonable Accommodation Form and provide with the reasonable accommodation request.
- Once submitted, the housing authority will fax a Medical Verification form to the requested profession and determine whether the type and longevity of the disability and whether the accommodation is medically necessary.
- The housing authority will make a decision regarding the reasonable accommodation once the verification is returned by the medical professional.
