THE FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE FSS PROGRAM?

It is a voluntary, 5 year program between you and the Rosenberg Housing Authority (RHA) that can assist you and your family to become financially independent and self-reliant through these KEY elements:

• Supportive services to further your education or job skills
• An Escrow Account that can be used for:

o Home Ownership
o Purchasing a Car
o Vocational, educational and skill training
o … To move you to independence!

Who is Eligible?

Residents of RHA Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly Section 8) who are heads of household, regardless of current employment status, disability or age.

How does the Program Work?

When you decide to join the program, the FSS staff will:
• Place you on the FSS Waiting List
• When a slot becomes available, you will be invited to a informational briefing
• Provide you with a Contract of Participation
• Help you develop your goals for independence
• Link you to services and agencies
• Provide classes that promote your self-sufficiency and money management
• Meet with you regularly to support your progress toward your goals.

What is asked of you?

When you successfully complete the program, the money in your escrow account will be YOURS!
